Registration for Virginia Mennonite Conference Assembly 2009 is now open! This year's theme is Jesus is our Peace, the third in a four-part series on Centered in Jesus Christ. Assembly will be held at Eastern Mennonite School in Harrisonburg, VA, July 23-25. Don't miss the opportunity to hear David Shenk, Dorothy Jean Weaver, and a variety of gifted workshop leaders and mission workers. Registration forms were recently sent to congregations, delegates, and leaders. Registration is also available online at www.vmconf.org.

Plans are underway for the celebration of Virginia Mennonite Conference's 175th anniversary! One way that congregations will be invited to participate in these observances is to contribute items for the creation of an art quilt, to assist in telling VMC's story. Responses are requested by May 1. Questions? Contact Gloria Diener (ggdiener@gmail.com) or Bonnie Stutzman (stutzeb@comcast.net).

The VMRC Auxiliary Annual Meeting will be held Thursday, May 14th 7:00pm at Detwiler Auditorium at VMRC. Come, bring a friend, enjoy music from the Galloway Family (family fiddlers & singing) , harpist, Natalia Slabaugh. Refreshments will be served.

In this time of economic challenge, the world is looking to the church for hope. As a service to your congregation, MMA, which helps you integrate your finances with your faith, wants to make you aware that Dave Ramsey, the creator of Financial Peace University, has scheduled a free Town Hall for Hope event to be simulcast nationwide on April 23, 2009, at 8 p.m., ET. Find locations near you at www.townhallforhope.com.

Prayers and Praises

MMN: Praise God for the ministry of Mennonite Mission Network workers Byrdalene and Willis Horst who completed more than 30 years of service among the indigenous people in the Argentine Chaco. Pray that God will send new workers to join the Mennonite Team in accompanying the Pilaga and Toba indigenous churches there.

VMM: In Albania, Allen Umble has opportunities to witness to his neighbors about God's love and protection. May he shine the light of Christ through the darkness of superstitions.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, IMPACT--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.
