Personal Interest Inventory: God is calling all of us. The joy of sharing our abilities and energy is truly one of the blessings of being a part of the body of Christ. We also learn and grow by actively participating in the work of the church. In our church family we have a large variety of abilities and interests. Please respond to Lois Alderfer's email or ask her for a form. Both youth and adults are invited to participate. Your responses will be shared with those responsible for the ongoing work of the church.

Stewardship Message: February began the last third part of our present fiscal year. Yes, we had already completed 8-months or two-thirds of our present fiscal year budget at January 31, 2009. While we budgeted offering receipts of $66,000.00 (of our $99,000.00 budgeted amount) by the end of January, our actual giving amount has been short; coming in at just under $61,000.00. Therefore, we continue to carry a $5,000.00 shortfall. Further, unless our offerings' pace increases, it's possible our shortfall could increase to $7,500.00. Our monthly offerings should be at the level of $8,300.00. We met or exceeded this amount in only three of the past eight months. Our poorest showing to date was last month-January 2009 ( $5,749.00). We have four months to go in the current fiscal year. We thank all who have been mindful that there is a financial side to our congregational mission. It is a challenge in this economic crisis but let's all try to give at a higher level to meet the goal of $9,300.00 per month for the balance of this fiscal year. Pray for the continued financial health of our church and ministries. Dean Wentz - Stewardship

Stewardship University, a ministry partnership between MMA and our local faith community, will host the course, Money and You: Who's in Charge, on March 7, 2009, at Parkview Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg. Taught by popular presenter Dick Towner, this course will offer practical ideas about managing your money in ways that reflect your values. For more information on this or other courses, or to register, contact MMA at (800) 348-7468, Ext. 388, or visit our Web site (www.StewardshipUniversity.org)

Prayers and Praises

MMN: Mennonite Mission Network workers Christine and Phil Lindell-Detweiler, South Africa, request prayer that peacebuilding initiatives can bear fruit in the current contentious political climate. Pray that Way of Life church, a Network partner, and other black churches in the Khayelitsha township capture the vision for proactive peacebuilding for the well-being of their community.

VMM: Yesterday The Early Church in northern Harrisonburg was received as a congregation within Virginia Conference. Thank God for the ministry of Ron Copeland and the lay leaders who are reaching out to the community in meaningful ways.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, IMPACT--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.
