"Epiphanies in Asia": Again this year we will have a series of faith oriented stories in Epiphany showing the power of Christ in our word. This year we will focus on Asia in February.

You are invited to Sing the Journey - an evening of singing and introducing the new Hymnal Supplement, led by Ken Nafziger, Professor of Music at Eastern Mennonite University, and composer Jim Clemens, will take place Sunday, January 15, 2006, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Eastern Mennonite School Auditorium. Childcare provided for ages 0-7.

Hunt Family Fiddlers, from Chesapeake, Va., will perform on Sunday, February 5 at 4 p.m. in the Eastern Mennonite School Auditorium. An offering will benefit New Bridges and Norma Teles' Gypsy ministry. See the poster on the bulletin board.

A FREE SEMINAR ON MEDIA AND CHILDREN led by Harvey Yoder of FLRC and Larry Heatwole of Computer Works will be held at the Family Life Resource Center on Monday, January 23, from 7-8:30. Register at 434-8450.

A POSITIVE PARENTING CLASS led by Harvey Yoder will be held at Family Life Resource five Mondays from 7-8:30 p.m. starting January 30. Cost is $35, or $60 for two persons from the same household. The text, Common Sense Parenting, is available at cost, $13. Call 434-8450 to register.

The Student Lecture Series at EMU presents Jim Wallis, February 21, at 7 p.m. in Lehman Auditorium. Wallis, noted Christian advocate for social change, is a widely-traveled speaker and commentator on ethics and public life and founder and editor of "Sojourners" magazine; more information: www.emu.edu/sga; email: studentlectureseries@emu.edu; admission free.

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: Monica Unzicker, VMBM worker at the Maranatha School for the Deaf in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica had the privilege of family members visiting with her the beginning of January. Currently, Dolores Beiler is visiting. Thank God for the compassion that both Monica and Dolores have for the brothers and sisters in Jamaica.

Mennonite Mission Network: Pray for Mennonite mission leaders in their preparations and travel to the Council of International Ministries held Jan. 25-28 in Pittsburgh. Pray that God's Spirit may guide discussions on the theme "Internationalization of the Global Mission Movement."

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, CAISC--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.

~ The four hostages in Iraq who are from Christian Peacemaker Team, their families, their support teams (Tom Fox has informal connections to Northern Virginia Mennonite Church), CPT leadership Carol Rose and Doug Pritchard, the hostage takers, the negotiators and everyone who is involved and affected by this.
