Lent 2: Holding on, letting go February 28, 2010 I have lost what I hold in my fist, So tight it has become a comfort. My muscles have formed around this forgotten thing And I am afraid of releasing my grip. One day my strength will fail, My hands will open. And the ash of my selfish desire will blow away. In my weariness I stand, Before you, Jesus. I ask that you take my burden from me. Open my tired, stubborn hands. Pry apart my angry fingers, And lay your holy palm on mine.
