Vision Corner: One aspect of our vision process this last year was to strengthen activity with the youth.. This summer youth have gone to youth convention had a meal with the pastors. They are now planning monthly activities with the youth of Springdale Mennonite Church. Next Sunday our youth and the Springdale youth will be reporting on the youth convention this summer in Columbus, Ohio.

David and Marie Works suffered the ultimate loss when two of their daughters died at the hands of a gunman in their Colorado church parking lot, Dec. 2007. As a result of a seminar experience at Eastern Mennonite University the year before, David made a conscious decision not to continue the cycle of violence by seeking revenge. Instead, he and Marie chose to work toward forgiveness, healing and reconciliation. David will make a public presentation at Park View Mennonite Church, 1600 Park Road, Harrisonburg, at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Loren Horst will speak at the 9th annual Kennel Charles Anabaptist Lecture series at EMHS, September 28, 2009, 7:00 PM, in the school auditorium. His title is "Witness in an Age of Tolerance: A Perspective from Virginia Mennonite Conference and Missions." Loren, President of Virginia Mennonite Missions, will reflect on witness in our world today and the work of VMM. All are invited to this public event.

Fall Worship Series "Your Call" For our October and November worship series we invite you to suggest a word to be the focus of a sermon. One word will be chosen for each Sunday. The elders and pastors will cooperate on choosing the suggested words to form a worship series. Please write a word you are interested in hearing about below and put it in the offering plate.

Prayers and Praises

MMN:In Francistown, Botswana, Melanie Quinn works with young actors and musicians who stage productions dealing with alcoholism, HIV/AIDS and domestic violence. Grant money for the presentations and for performers' stipends has been wrongfully withheld since February. Pray that God would provide needed funds.

VMM: Norma Teles, Brazilian missionary serving with VMM in Albania, is opening the Joshua Centre for another year of education for 3-5 year olds. The children and their mothers blossom with the input at the Centre. Ask God to bless the interactions that happen there.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, IMPACT--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.
