Call to Worship
Listen! From before time, our God is calling.
Lord, open our ears. Open our hearts.
The God of Abraham is calling.
The God who sustains all things by his powerful word.
The Lord Almighty, El Shaddai, has fulfilled his promise to Abraham.
Through Jesus, we who were not a people are now a people.
Through Jesus, by faith, the old has gone, the new has come.
We have become a new kingdom and priests for our God.
To display the excellency of the One who calls us from darkness into his marvelous light.
We once were fatherless, strangers without hope.
In Jesus, by faith, we have become heirs to everlasting life, the sons and daughters of God.
The promise has come.
It has come to us.
And we are blessed! Blessed to be a blessing to the world!
A blessing to the One who sets us free.

Mark your calendar for July 23-25 and plan to attend Virginia Mennonite Conference's Assembly, held at Eastern Mennonite High School. The theme is Jesus is Our Peace with David Shenk featured as worship speaker (Thursday night), workshop leader, and Bible study teacher. David is noted for his mission work and dialogue with Muslims.

Mark your calendar for SEPTEMBER 21, 2009 AT 7 P.M. for a dramatic performance of TED & COMPANY : "I'd Like to Buy an Enemy" (premier showing) at Bridgewater Church of the Brethren as part of the International Day of Prayer for Peace. Tell your friends and family to reserve the date!

Prayers and Praises

MMN: Please join Mennonite Mission Network workers Cindy and Tim Buhler and George and Tobia Veith in praising God for the growth of the Macau Mennonite Church. Pray for the baptismal candidates who are making a commitment through baptism.

VMM:EMM & VMM workers, Skip and Carol Tobin return fro VA today from their years of service in Thailand. Ask God to guide and bless them in the transitions and ministries ahead.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, IMPACT--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.
