Charlottesville Mennonite Church is planning to have a group of people during spring break (April 2-9, 2006) to help with Hurricane Relief. If you are interested or for more information, please contact Libby Showalter.

Hunt Family Fiddlers, from Chesapeake, Va., will perform on Sunday, February 5 at 4 p.m. in the Eastern Mennonite School Auditorium. An offering will benefit New Bridges and Norma Teles' Gypsy ministry.

The Student Lecture Series at EMU presents Jim Wallis, February 21, at 7 p.m. in Lehman Auditorium. Wallis, noted Christian advocate for social change, is a widely-traveled speaker and commentator on ethics and public life and founder and editor of "Sojourners" magazine; more information: www.emu.edu/sga; email: studentlectureseries@emu.edu; admission free.

The local (Harrisonburg) chapter of MEDA invites you to a soup supper and technology presentation at Eastern Mennonite School on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at 6:00. The presentation is titled "Practical Applications of Technology in Your Business." The forum will include Michael Stoltzfus, Director, I.T., Harman Construction, Jason Garber, EMU, Web Design, Larion Hostetler, Vice President, I.T., Valley Blox, Dwight Wyse, Owner, Wyse Solutions. The supper and forum are open to small business owners, managers, corporate executives, professional administrators, and anyone interested in learning about practical uses of technology in a business setting. The cost for the meal is $5.00 and a pre-registration is required. Register by contacting Patty Eckard at 540-432-4150. MEDA is committed to assisting Christian leaders in the engagement of practical stewardship of resources.

VMBM: Melissa Wenger, VMBM tranSend participant, works with children and youth at the Poarch Community Church in Alabama. She has also had the opportunity to tutor youth in their school work. May she be a shining light to all she meets.

Mennonite Mission Network: Pray that new Mission Network workers Aaron and Laura Kauffman will have a good start to the new school year as they begin teaching the end of January at the Mennonite school in La Mesa, Colombia

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, CAISC--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.

~ The four hostages in Iraq who are from Christian Peacemaker Team, their families, their support teams (Tom Fox has informal connections to Northern Virginia Mennonite Church), CPT leadership Carol Rose and Doug Pritchard, the hostage takers, the negotiators and everyone who is involved and affected by this.
