Church Workday: A heartfelt thank you to all who joined in the church work day yesterday. Everyone did a great job inside and out.

You are welcome to join a book study of Dissident Discipleship by David Augsburger that will meet during the Sunday School hour beginning September 14. Please contact Roy if you would like a book for participation in the class.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus is the theme for the Fall Virginia Mennonite Conference Women's Retreat. Reserve Sept. 26-28, 2008 to go to Holiday Inn Koger South in Richmond, VA. The speaker will be Martha Karam, a licensed clinical psychologist, currently working with Beacon Counseling and consulting in Williamsburg, VA.

Plans for 50th anniversary celebration at CMC are as follows:

Prayers and Praises

Mennonite Mission Network: Pray for Melanie Quinn, new Mennonite Mission Network worker in Botswana, as she studies the Setswana language. She will be giving support to a youth ministry in Francistown which offers Bible studies and educational resources about AIDS and HIV.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, IMPACT--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.
