Mark your calendar for the church work day on August 23 to clean up outside and inside the church from 8 am until noon, coffee and donuts provided. If you can not help that day contact Libby and she will find something for you to do at a flexible time.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus is the theme for the Fall Virginia Mennonite Conference Women's Retreat. Reserve Sept. 26-28, 2008 to go to Holiday Inn Koger South in Richmond, VA. The speaker will be Martha Karam, a licensed clinical psychologist, currently working with Beacon Counseling and consulting in Williamsburg, VA.

Plans for 50th anniversary celebration at CMC are as follows:
Saturday, September 6th 5:30-8:00pm
Meal: Baked potato bar food provided by CMC
Program to follow: Reminiscing with trivia game show
Childcare provided

Sunday, September 7th, 9:30am
Worship celebration with involvement of former pastors
Digital slide show of CMC over 50 years
Meal

We would appreciate your assistance in the following ways:
-Please let Reggie know how many of your family plan to attend

Please bring two dishes, a large side dish (vegetable or salad) and a large dessert for Sunday as we will have visitors from out of town. Meat will be provided.
-If possible, plan to help with church clean up on August 23rd from 8am - noon. Sunday school teachers may want to clean and organize their classrooms.
-If anyone would like to make a financial contribution for the anniversary celebration you may put a check in the offering with "CMC anniversary" noted in the memo line.
-Please contact former members and encourage them to attend. They may need housing overnight as well.

Prayers and Praises

Mennonite Mission Network: Please pray for SOOP volunteers serving at Fraser Valley Gleaners in British Columbia who are helping to process and dry food to be distributed to the hungry around the world.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, IMPACT--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.
