Albemarle County Fair - Funnel Cake Booth Tuesday July 29 to Sunday, August 2. See Maren if you want to sign up. Gloria will be the overall coordinator during the week of the fair.

The annual Young Adult Fellowship retreat will be held October 30, November 2, 2008 at Camp Overlook, Keezletown, Va. The theme, Rise Up!, is based on Philippians 2:1-11. Young Adult Fellowship is a bi-national gathering of young adults from Canada and the United States. Registration information will be available soon.


"Hope for All Peoples" highlights mission workers from three global locations on Friday, July 25, 6:45 p.m., part of Virginia Conference assembly, Eastern Mennonite School auditorium. Don't miss the stories of God at work, music, and tastes of international food. tranSend participants, long-term workers and VMC leaders will be commissioned.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus is the theme for the Fall Virginia Mennonite Conference Women's Retreat. Reserve Sept. 26-28, 2008 to go to Holiday Inn Kroger South in Richmond, VA. The speaker will be Martha Karam, a licensed clinical psychologist, currently working with Beacon Counseling and consulting in Williamsburg, VA.

Prayers and Praises

Mennonite Mission Network: Pray that the Radical Journey participants, who have returned this summer to minister in their home congregations, may integrate their experience of seeing God at work and inspire others to join the journey.

VMM Missions: Aaron and Laura Kauffman and daughters returned to Harrisonburg last month. They are the speakers for the youth of Virginia Conference assembly this week. Ask God to speak through them both with the youth and in the worship service on Friday evening.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, IMPACT--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.
