Ladies Tea - Saturday, April 19 at 10:00am
All ladies, young and a little older, are invited to come to our annual tea. Barbara Brouse will be our speaker this year. She will give us the history of tea and the proper way to serve tea. So grab your white gloves and hat and enjoy! Please sign up on the sheet in the front foyer.

Now is the time for the VMRC (VA Mennonite Retirement Community) Auxiliary annual membership drive. The annual rate is $10 per year, or $75 for life-time membership. As an Auxiliary member, your fees provide nature rides, shopping trips, ice cream socials, special programs, subscriptions, and much more for VMRC residents.

VMMissions would like to send teams to teach English in several locations this summer where there is great need. Volunteers are needed. Consider serving in Israel, Ukraine, or China with a Partners in Mission team.

Looking for Leaders! Service Adventure needs unit leaders in Johnstown, Pa., Philippi, W.V., and Raleigh, N.C. Leaders should be at least 24 years old, and can either be single or a married couple. Here is an opportunity to minister with young adults (age 17-20) as you live in community and serve the local community and church. Room, board and insurance are just part of the benefits! Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus is the theme for the Fall Virginia Mennonite Conference Women's Retreat. Reserve Sept. 26-28, 2008 to go to Holiday Inn Koger South in Richmond, VA. The speaker will be Martha Karam, a licensed clinical psychologist, currently working with Beacon Counseling and consulting in Williamsburg, VA.


Prayers and Praises

Mennonite Mission Network: Pray that the staff of Korea Anabaptist Center may be able to respond to requests for new Anabaptist materials and that publishing through Korea Anabaptist Press will grow as a self-sustaining ministry. Mennonite Mission Network partners in this work.

VMM Missions: Thank God for the jubilant celebration of the Jamaica Mennonite Church's 50th anniversary in March. Also pray for the first ever Peacebuilding Institute being held April 17-19 in Kingston. Jamaica Mennonite Church and MCC are working together to teach peacemaking to educators, police force, and social services personnel.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, IMPACT--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.
