We are looking for someone with computer interest and ability to update the Charlottesville Mennonite Church website on a regular basis with a flexible schedule. You don't have to gather the info, just put it on the website. If interested please contact Maren or Roy. This fall we are planning to hold our informal fall potlucks again. We are currently looking for people who would be willing to host 6-10 people at their home for a potluck. Please contact Maren or Roy if you are interested in being a host. Last week concluded our churches service in the Salvation Army soup kitchen on Thursday evenings. Thank you to all who were involved. May 2008 Service Trip to Nazareth and Bethlehem? Blue Ridge Ministries, Inc. invites all women to
join the Shenandoah Valley Women's Chorus with rehearsals each Sunday
beginning September 9, 2:00-3:15 at the Harrisonburg Mennonite Church
until the concert on November 17, 7:00 p.m. at the Bridgewater Church
of the Brethren. Prayers and PraisesMennonite Mission Network: An annual retreat for students of Instituto Bíblico Anabautista will be held Aug. 31-Sept. 3 in Talladega, Ala. Pray for wisdom for Marvin Lorenzana as he leads the workshops and that the students will be rejuvenated for the coming year. VMM Missions: Hurricane Dean's force took down
trees and power lines across Jamaica, and some buildings sustained damage,
but the roofs on the buildings at the Maranatha School held tight. Our
brothers and sisters there thank us for our prayers, and thank God for
taking care of them once again as the hurricane force impacted their lives.
Nancy Marshall in Orange Walk, Belize, reports that she and a family of
9 were safe in her house although the wind blew down a large palm tree.
She gives thanks that the tree did not damage the house, or the new van
which was purchased with Penny Power money! Thank you for standing with
our church family in these places. Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, IMPACT--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.
