God has tested us but has not rejected us.

Leader: Have no fear, and do not be troubled;
the Spirit of truth dwells in you.
People: God is never far from us, even though unknown;
the Spirit gives us breath and keeps us alive.

Do you see an MMA counselor? Spot someone in your congregation who could make a great MMA counselor and your church could earn $1,000! We're looking for motivated men and women who are sales professionals and who want to integrate their faith and values into their careers. Contact Grete Horst, our MMA advocate, for more information.

Lasting Marriage: The Owners' Guide, authored by FLRC counselor Harvey Yoder. Lasting Marriage is based on the premise that relationships need the same kind of care and maintenance we give any other valued possession, such as a motor vehicle. While we naturally assume our cars will require more, not less, care as they age, we have often not applied that same reasoning to marriage.

Spring Cleaning? Booksavers of Virginia needs the books you no longer need. They can be dropped off at Gift & Thrift on Mt.Clinton Pike. Your books benefit Mennonite Central Committee.

1 Peter 3:8-22

3: 8-12 Do not return evil for evil…but seek peace and pursue it.

3:13-14 blessed are you for doing what is right without fear
even if it means suffering

3:15-16 your best defense/appeal is a gentleness and
reverence that maintains a good conscience and shames those abusing you thus revealing your hope

3:17-18 it is better to suffer for doing good than for
doing evil as Christ also suffered to bring you to God
and bring life in the spirit

3:19-20 like Noah, Christ appealed to entrapped spirits

3:21 baptism as the pledge of a good conscience toward
God
4.1… arm your selves with the attitude of Christ who suffered

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: An urgent call from Nazareth Village, Israel, for volunteers to serve in this first-century replication of life in Jesus' time comes to us. You and your family or small group may find this experience both a challenge and a blessing. If you can serve, contact Ken Horst at ken.horst@vmbm.org

Mennonite Mission Network: The first Sunday in May each year, Benin Bible Institute highlights its training programs on "BBI Sunday" in the Mennonite churches in Benin. Mennonite Mission Network workers Bruce Yoder and Nancy Frey request prayer that this year the churches will again respond positively and generously to BBI.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, IMPACT--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.
