Want to reach out to the community? Like to Bake? Help Clark School at their Fun Fair by contributing baked goods. The Fun Fair is Saturday, Oct. 7 from 10-2. Our church will have a baked goods table their. Proceeds will benefit Clark Elementary School. See Joyce Hutchinson for details.

Mennonite Central Committee is calling for school kit donations. MCC needs thousands of school kits this fall to meet requests for shipments to countries including Jordan, Honduras, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Kazakhstan. Many school kits have been delivered this past year to Iraq and Afghanistan, but many more are needed, and current supplies are very short.

On October 15, at 7:30 p.m., John Ruth, historian, storyteller, writer and filmmaker from Pennsylvania, will discuss the "Migration of Mennonites & Brethren from Pennsylvania to Virginia" at the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren, 420 College View Drive, Bridgewater, Va. The public is invited and donations will be accepted in support of the Valley Brethren-Mennonite (CrossRoads) Heritage Center.

You are invited to MennoFolk, October 13 & 14, 2006 featuring: Trent Wagler, Chuck Neufeld, Rachel Ries, Tim Shue and others. Concerts will take place in downtown Harrisonburg on Friday night from 7 - 11 pm and on the campus of Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday beginning at 4 pm. Tickets are $12 or $35 per family, children under 5 are free. Over the Rhine will close out the festival, under a separate $12 ticket ($8 if you have a Mennofolk festival ticket), in Lehman Auditorium at 8pm on Saturday. Get your tickets by going Online at www.emu.edu/boxoffice Phone: 540-432-4663 (M-F 10:30-2:30pm)

Please have all bulletin information to Jeannine by noon on Thursday. Thanks!

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: Carol Tobin, EMM/VMBM worker in Southeast Asia, teaches English and finds that the classes open doors for deeper conversation. She writes, "We must learn to be the 'sent ones,' to simply 'be Jesus' in the relationships that develop." A good challenge for us in the U.S. , too!

Mennonite Mission Network: Pray for the indigenous Toba translators' team as they work together with Mennonite Mission Network worker Richard Friesen in the Argentine Chaco to revise the Toba New Testament. Their work on Corinthians has been the most challenging so far.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, IMPACT--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.
