Highland Retreat will be holding it's Annual Auction at Shady Oaks next to Weavers Mennonite Church, Saturday, March 4, 2006. The auction benefits the youth camp summer program at Highland Retreat. An up-to-date, growing list of items can be seen on Highland's web site. www.highlandretreat.org
VMRC Auxiliary is sponsoring a Spring Auction on March 17, 2006 at Detweiler Auditorium. 2006 MCC Turkey Canning is scheduled for February 27-March 3 at the Mennonite Relief Center, Hinton, VA.Virginia Mennonite Conference is responsible to provide help on Tuesday, February 28. Help is needed from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m. each day. Friday, March 3 is scheduled as a community day and help is needed especially in the early morning. Anyone is welcome to come and help on any day! Funds are needed to purchase turkey for processing and for the ongoing operation of the Relief Center. If you would like to contribute to this project you can send a donation to the: Mennonite Relief Center, PO Box 519, Dayton, VA 22821, earmarked for the meat canning project. Thanks for your participation in this effort to feed the less fortunate in the world.

Saturday, April 1, Lunasa, an Irish music quintet, will present a program at the Eastern Mennonite School Auditorium. One reviewer said of the group, "An amazing new instrumental quintet: state-of-the-art Irish music as aggressively infectious as you¹ll ever hear." The concert is a fundraising event for the Touring Choir which will be touring in Europe in June. For tickets and more information call 540-432-4500.

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: Dan Hoopert, from Mt. View Mennonite Church in North Carolina is teaching at the Kiev Theological Seminary [Grace and Truth] in Kiev, Ukraine. Thank God for his availability in using his gift in this way.

Mennonite Mission Network: Pray for Christine and Phil Lindell Detweiler, Mennonite Mission Network workers, to hear God's voice as they make contacts with people and organizations from their new assignment in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, IMPACT--a justice ministry and PACEM-- the initiative for the homeless.

~ The four hostages in Iraq who are from Christian Peacemaker Team, their families, their support teams (Tom Fox has informal connections to Northern Virginia Mennonite Church), CPT leadership Carol Rose and Doug Pritchard, the hostage takers, the negotiators and everyone who is involved and affected by this.
