For the next few months a book discussion group will be meeting at our church on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. They will be discussing the book God's Politics: why the right gets it wrong and the left doesn't get it by Jim Wallis. Last week over 12 persons from the community met at C'ville Coffee for the first discussion session. Gene Fifer has worked at organizing this group. Our discussion Sunday School class is also studying this book.

CMC's annual Agape Meal will be held on Maundy Thursday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m. If you would like to provide soup, bread or fresh fruit, please sign up on the bulletin board in the foyer.

Our church is sponsoring a table at the Annual Love INC Banquet. The banquet is Friday, March 18 from 6:30-9:00 at the Omni Hotel. The speaker will be Robert Odom, National President of Love INC. The cost of the event is a donation. Please let Joyce Hutchinson know if you would like to attend.

The Annual VMRC Auxiliary Auction and Meal is scheduled for Friday, March 18 in Detwiler Auditorium on the VMRC campus. We are in need of items to auction. Suggestions include: handcrafted wooden items, antiques, quilts, furniture, gift certificates, etc. Be creative! All proceeds benefit the VMRC community and will be used this year to fund a wheelchair accessible van. If you have any questions your may contact your VMRC Auxiliary representative or Evie Leichty at 433-4956.

31st annual MCC Turkey Canning Project, February 28- March 4, at the Mennonite Relief Center in Hinton, Va. The MRC hours of operation are 5 a.m.-11 p.m., and anyone is welcome to help on any day with the canning. Info at (540) 867-9751.

Interested in becoming a Host Home for the Runaway Emergency Services Program (RESP) of Children, Youth, and Family Services? Want to be a Youth Companion to young persons (ages 11-18) while the youth and his/her family receive counseling? To volunteer for either program or to get more information, please call 292-SAFE (7233)

Prayers and Praises

Mennonite Mission Network: As Liberia approaches elections in 2005, Mennonite Mission Network workers Hank and Marilyn Rossiter request prayer that peace and stability might continue and a fair and just government may be established.

VMBM: Omar and Dolores Beiler assisted the Abrams Mennonite Church in organizing the rebuilding of the house that church members Perline and Verona Dockery live in. A work team from Mt. Vernon Mennonite Church helped with the physical labor for a week in the beginning of the month. Perline and Verona do not have physical sight, but their spiritual eyes are wide open, praising God for His goodness to them..

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank, Salvation Army, CAISC -a justice ministry and PACEM - the initiative for the homeless.

Pray for those within our CMC family:
~ Matt Nissley and his YES team in Peru.
~ Jim Parks as he has knee surgery this week.
~ Jeff Myers' father as he is battling cancer.
~ Those devastated by the Tsunami in Asia and Africa.
