Announcements

The annual MCC meat canning is scheduled in our area for March 1-5, 2004. MCC has asked the Mennonite Relief Center Board to NOT can beef this year, due to the case of Mad Cow disease in the US, which has made exporting beef impossible. Instead of beef they will be canning turkey. Please send contributins to Mennonite Relief Center, P.O. Box 519, Dayton, VA 22821. For more information contact Leon Rhodes at 540-867-9751. See the MCC website at www.mcc.org/getinv/canning for additional information about canning.

Register now for the Men's retreat at Williamsburg Christian Retreat Center March 12-14. This will be a time of meaningful worship, inspired teaching, great fellowship, and recreation. Myron Augsburger will be the guest speaker, and he will be speaking on the theme, Keys to Being Covenant Keepers. For more information, contact WCRC at 757-566-2256 or visit www.wcrc.info.

Youth, please mark your calendars for the YOUTHFEST on July 8-11, 2004 at EMU in Harrisonburg. For more info check www.vmconf.org/youthfest or look for more announcements.

Interested in supporting small coffee and cocoa farmers more directly? If so, sign up on the bulletin board in the foyer to express your interest in participating in the Fair Trade Coffee Exchange. Details are hanging above the sign-up sheet or see Jeannine.

Do you have favorite songs or hymns that never seem to be selected to sing on Sunday morning? There will be a "song selection box" placed in the back hallway, under the mailboxes. Please write down your songs, and drop in the box, or give your suggestions to Jeff Myers or Dottie Scott.

Eastern Mennonite University would like to invite you to come see for yourself why EMU is an exceptional Christian university. Special visit dates are February 19-20, Multicultural Weekend February 20-22, April 1-2 and Saturday, March 20. Please call EMU at (800) 368-2665 or locally at (540) 432-4118 to set up your visit. Or register online at http://www.emu.edu/admissions/brochure/cv.html.

Prayers and Praises

VMBM: A new house church fellowship is growing out of relationships that Keith and Tami Nice have developed in Graham, NC. Pray for the persons who are exploring the meaning of Christian faith in their lives.

Mennonite Mission Network: Pray that discussions between Illinois and Central District area conferences, Mennonite Central Committee and Mennonite Mission Network will bring a unified vision for urban ministry in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Pray for the local services for people in need: Love Inc., Shelter for Help in Emergency, Food Bank and the Salvation Army.

Pray for the 40 day spiritual journey as part of our church's vision process:

  1. Our selves, that we all will be drawn closer to God and each other.
  2. Our church, relationships within our church, our vision as a church; our facility needs
  3. Our community and our mission of witness and service
